Embodied Herbalism
The heart of traditional herbal practices worldwide has always been rooted in relationships. While modern understanding of plant chemistry plays an important role in herbalism, our embodied connection and relationship with the plant is also a profound aspect of the healing that they offer.
Before people had access to modern scientific instrumentation, they primarily learned about plants through direct embodied experiences. Traditional people from around the world formed sophisticated, relationship-based ways of understanding plant’s physiological medicine as well as their deep psychological and spiritual teachings. This class will give students the cosmology, tools and frameworks to shift the way that they engage with plants from mental to embodied.

This class will support you to understand the connection between emotional states and the nervous system while exploring herbal allies for stress, grief, anger, fear, and emotional stagnation. No prior herbal experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to engage with both plants and your inner landscape.
